Polyhedral steel pylons for transmission lines

Polyhedral tapered pylons have several considerable advantages in comparison with traditional used concrete and steel lattice poles:

• Polyhedral tapered poles are more reliable than concrete and lattice poles, especially in complicated glaze storm and wind area conditions. Polyhedral tapered pole can carry at malfunctions loads 2-3 times more than the concrete type pole do.
  
  
• Polyhedral poles have much less weight than concrete and lattice poles. Intermediate transmission pole of 35 KV weigh approximate 1 ton. The analogous concrete pole weighs 4 tons, lattice – 2 tons. The volume of transportation and handling is lower because of lightweight and transportation ease. There is no need in special transportations (coupling platforms, pole carriers). Poles have no crushes at transportation and handling operations.
  
  
• Lightweight and high level of the in-plant readiness allows installing pole in several hours. There is no need in using special lifting mechanisms and thick grouting foundations. Efforts in assembling and installation schedules are greatly reduced, especially in marshlands and hard-to-reach places. Assembling does not require vast job sites, which is important within urban and mountain areas.
  
  
• The service life of polyhedral poles (estimated of 50 years) twice longer than the concrete ones. Durability can be improved with the use of polymeric coatings applied at the plant conditions.
  
  
• Capital outlays for assembling 1 km of the transmission line with the use of polyhedral poles are 15 – 50 % lower than the “concrete” or “lattice” variants. The effect is bigger when transmission line is built at distant regions and regions with complicated condition. Maintenance costs repeatedly reduced because of high reliability of polyhedral poles. Transmission line on the base of polyhedral poles requires less ground area for use.
